"Teilabschnitt B" mainly consisted of fortifications on the left bank of the Meuse between Chavoncourt and Menonville. This strongly developed position was named the "Maasbogen-Stellung." This section of the front remained in German hands until the end of the war; it was heavily fortified and fiercely defended by various German units. The opponents in 1918 were the 34th Division of the American Expeditionary Forces, subordinated to the French 8th Army.
